Our amphibious floats are constructed of Kevlar and carbon fiber.  Fully installed, they are much lighter than comparable aluminum floats.  Each float has 6 compartments, three accessible and three filled with micro-polyurethane making them practically unsinkable.  The floats are finished in gleaming white gel-coat.

The amphibious gear is operated by a small compressor using an automatic shutoff to fill a reserve bottle. The air cylinders are small volume with low volume airlines for minimum air requirement and fast operation.  The gear cycles in less than 6 seconds.  A unique canvas splash guard protects the underside of the airplane from water spray.

As with all our airplanes, our floats are complete in the box. There is absolutely nothing else to buy to install these floats on your airplane.  All hardware is either anodized aluminum or stainless steel.  All fittings are drilled where they attach to the airplane as are the matching holes in the float.  Air and brake lines are supplied with quick-detach couplers. Because our mounting hardware is pre-drilled, the angle of float to airplane sets itself so you don't have to spend hours with a level and a protractor agonizing over the float angle.  Installation time is about 20 man hours.  Thereafter, removing the floats and putting the airplane back on its wheels (or vice versa) takes about 2.5 hours.

 Our Savannah airplanes are just as versatile on water as they are on land.  Of course they are true STOL performers here as well. 

Float hull design is an art.  A hull that "sticks" to the water means you'll spend a lot of time - and distance - getting the airplane up on the step and then getting unstuck from the water surface tension.  A poor hull design leads to long takeoff runs, exposing your airplane to more hazards - above and below the waterline.  The takeoff distance on a Savannah float is an incredible 150'!!    There's hardly a body of water on the planet that a Savannah can't get into - and out of!!!
