All four Savannah models use the same fuselage.  The difference is in the wing.  The Savannah and Savannah Bingo offer fixed, leading-edge slats while the Savannah VG uses vortex generators to achieve the STOL capabilities.  All three use full-span flaperons.    The result is that the STOL capabilities are virtually the same for all models and they differ only in cruise speed.  The Savannah cruises at 95 mph, the VG at 102 and the ADV at 115 mph.  The Bingo has minimal instruments, a 60HP HKS engine, and cruises at 85 mph.

The Savannah ADV comes with a pre-built tapered wing incorporating electrically operated slats and electrically operated double-slotted flaps with separate ailerons.  The ADV has all the features of the Savannah kit contents below with the exception that the wing is completely assembled.

The Rampage uses the ADV wing but a totally different fuselage.  Presently, the Rampage is only available as a ready-to-fly airplane.  It cruises at 125 mph with the same STOL performance as the Savannahs.

Savannah Kit Contents

In order to match your budget or time requirements, Skykits offers the Savannah in kit form and also, together with the Rampage, as a complete, ready-to-fly airplane.  Whichever model you choose,  they all use the identical CNC machined and laser-cut parts to create an airframe of superior strength and unparalleled  quality.  There are no parts to fabricate.  Corrosion-resistant,  6061 T6 aluminum is used throughout.  All hardware is cadmium coated or stainless steel.  Wherever steel parts are used, they are galvanized or otherwise protected from rust and corrosion.  Every model comes with a complete  parts list which includes CADD drawings of every component of the airplane.  Since every part is fabricated at the factory,  getting replacement parts is simply a matter of sending us the part number(s) and having your part(s) FedExed to your door.  There is no finer kit on the market today.

While other manufacturers offer component kits for their airplanes, Skykits does not offer component kits for the Savannah.  This is because the Savannah builds so quickly.  For example, the Savannah rudder can be built in two and a half hours.  If we offered you a component rudder kit, your rudder would arrive in the morning and you would have it built by that afternoon.   Manufacturers who offer you component kits are telling you their kits are difficult and time-consuming to build.  Not so with the Savannah.

The Savannah,  Savannah VG, and Savannah ADV - using the Rotax 912 series engine - include all of the following components as standard equipment:

Fuselage: Aluminum skins are cut to size, drilled and de-burred with all cutouts completed.  Frame members have flanged lightening holes and are pre-shaped, drilled and de-burred.  There are absolutely no parts required to be fabricated.  Tricycle landing gear has pedal-controlled, differential, hydraulic disc brakes on the main wheels.  There is a baggage compartment behind the seats and 4-point safety harnesses for the pilot and the passenger.

Flight surfaces:  Includes wings with slats (Savannah) or vortex generators (Savannah VG) and flaperons, horizontal and vertical tail with elevator and rudder.  Wing struts are streamlined and drilled for exact alignment and angle of attack.  Main spars are pre-fabricated.  All skins are cut to size, pre-shaped, drilled and de-burred with all cutouts completed.  Ribs are stamped, lightened, drilled and de-burred as are all other parts. There are absolutely no parts required to be fabricated.  The Savannah ADV comes with a pre-built wing.

Windows and doors: Door Lexan is cut to shape and pre-drilled, window Lexan is cut to shape so it can be fitted easily.  Doors come complete with adjustable snap vents, keyed locks and gas cylinders.

Controls: Include 3-position flap lever (0-20-40), foot pedals for rudder and nose-wheel steering, and center-mounted stick for elevator and aileron.  All control cables are cut to the right length, strung with guides and mounting brackets, and the ends closed with thimbles and certified NICO press equipment.

Fuel system:  Each wing holds a polycarbonate fuel tank with visual fuel level indicator.  There is also a reserve tank mounted in the fuselage behind the baggage compartment.  There is a low fuel warning light on the instrument panel with a sensor in the reserve tank. The components of the fuel system are:
 
            Wing tanks (2) - combined capacity 72 liters
            Reserve tank - capacity 8 liters with condensation drain and electronic sensor to instrument panel
            Fuel valve
            Rubber stratified fuel hoses NBR+CR with NORMA clamps

Miscellaneous: 

            All nuts, bolts, washers, rivets, thimbles, safety wire, etc.
            Hydraulic differential brakes on main wheels with toe pedals on pilot side.
            Plastic tips for wings, stabilizer, flaperons, slats, fin and rudder
            Anti-corrosion primer, water based - 1 liter

Tools:  The Savannah is assembled with blind rivets.  While a manual riveter would do the job, there are about 10,000 rivets in the kit so a pneumatic rivet gun will save considerable time and effort.  Clecos are used to hold your work in place prior to riveting.  The Savannah is supplied with the following tools. 

            FAR pneumatic rivet gun with 4 heads
            Clecos (50)
            Angle-of-attack gauge for setting the flaperons

Firewall forward:  The firewall forward components include everything needed except the engine, muffler and propeller.  This includes:
 
            Fiberglass cowlings - top and bottom
            Engine mount with silent blocks
            Factory fabricated airbox for Rotax 912 series engines with temperature probe and wiring, air filter 
            Radiator
            Oil cooler
            Hoses with steel spiral core
            Steel reinforced oil tubes and NORMA and ABA clamps

Included accessories: 

            Padded, cloth-upholstered seats
            Electric elevator trim
            Cabin heating system
            Electric fuel pump
            Tundra tires

Instrument Panel: The instrument panel has all instrument, gauge and switch holes drilled. There is also an overhead switch and breaker panel plus a floor console with an auxiliary power outlet.  Dual throttle controls are included.

            The Savannah, VG and ADV come with a full instrument and engine wiring harness for the Rotax 912 engine
